An award certificate is a designed object with a name in the middle of it. The border, seal and typography are the whole point and never change; the recipient, category, citation and date change on every copy. Google Slides holds that design exactly, and each row of the winners list produces its own certificate in the same run.

One row per recipient, citations included

The awards that go smoothly keep results in one table: recipient, category, placement, citation, date. Generate from it and the certificates are correct because the sheet is correct — no retyping a name from an email at eleven at night. These are branded certificate documents rather than verifiable credentials, so there is no verification page, no Open Badges and no recipient analytics; what you get is a PDF set ready for the printer. Filter by category or placement to keep the print batches sorted in the order they will be handed out.

Common questions, answered

Are these verifiable or shareable credentials? +
No. These are branded certificate documents — Slides and print-ready PDFs. There is no verification page a recipient can link to, no Open Badges or LinkedIn credential issuing, and no analytics on who viewed one. For awards that is normally the point: the certificate is a printed artefact handed over on the night.
Can I generate winners and finalists in one run? +
Yes. Keep placement as a field on the record, then either run the whole list at once or filter by category and placement so winner and finalist certificates print as separate batches. Late changes to the results are a data edit followed by a rerun.
Can I use my own award certificate design? +
Yes, and awards bodies usually must. Build the master in Google Slides with your seal, border, foil area and signature block, mark the recipient, category, citation and date as placeholders, and generate against that instead of this layout. If the certificate is foiled or printed on stock, design to the printer's template first.
Can each certificate carry its own citation? +
Yes. Put the citation in a field next to the recipient and it prints on their certificate. Keep it to a line or two: a slide is a fixed design, so the text does not reflow the page, and the citation length is best decided in the data rather than at print time.
